Wooden wicks ensure a slower burn, they burn completely differently from your typical fiber wick. Wooden wicks can be a bit more finicky than your traditional wicks and may require a few attempts to light. When you burn a wooden wick you’ll experience a low and slow smolder- this is normal. They provide a great scent throw for the candle and work well with the beeswax/soy blend we use. Wooden wicks are also a renewable resource, making them a sustainable option.
Hemp wicks are derived from hemp plants that are processed for fiber. Hemp plants require less pesticides, capture more carbon, produce more per acre and grow at faster rate than your fiber wick alternatives. Hemp products are also renewable, biodegradable and the wicks themselves provide a steady burn that works well with our wax blend.
Regardless of which wick you are burning always be sure to follow these care & safety tips:
* Keep you wicks trimmed to at least a 1/4”.
*Break off any charred pieces from the wick before every burn.
* Never burn your candles for more than 3 hours at a time.
*Always burn with supervision and within sight.
*When lighting your candle for the first time be sure to let a full wax pool melt on the top, this prevents tunneling.
*Throw away the candle (repurpose the jar) when there is about 1” of wax left in the bottom.
